For the love of a rug

Last year as a very, very special treat Richard bought me this rug (above).
It is 'Flag' by Vivienne Westwood from the Rug Company.
How spoily!
I am a flag freak, and I especially love the Union Jack.
We have decided to hang it as 'art' in the home we are going to build in New Zealand.
I am keeping it hidden away so Max doesn't destroy it with marmite sandwiches and juice!

Here are my top 15 'rug crushes'.......

Squiggle Blue - Vivienne Westwood

Squiggle Orange - Vivienne Westwood

Candy Flower - Marni

Sellarsbrook Yellow - Suzanne Sharp

Passionflower - Paul Smith

Blanket - Suzanne Sharp

Overleaf Yellow - Marni

Navaho Blue - Alexandra Champalimaud

Key Turquoise - Suzanne Sharp

Persian Rose Garden - Megan Park

Magnolia Black - Vivienne Westwood

Moses Mocha - Suzanne Sharp

Door - Committee

Homegrown Blue - Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Anemone Cocoa - Marni

Monday morning wanderings & a lovely giveaway!

With Max happily ensconced at nursery this morning, I took myself off down the Kings Road for a little look see.
It's been ages since I had the pleasure of rambling aimlessly from shop to shop with no agenda.
The first of my new discoveries, 'Love' a brilliant little cake shop, had me drooling at the window. One of those cupcakes would be mine!

Pretty, pretty!

Next up, my fav cashmere shop Brora. Ridiculously expensive, but so worth it. I bought a cardigan from here two years ago and wear it constantly and it still looks brand new!
Oh and they have a sale - lovely!

Yay, Designers Guild are having a sale too.

Cute little bug in Sigmar.

Tea at Anthropologie.

Those hallowed doors.....

Couldn't resist this purchase from Anthropologie - measuring cups - so cute!

Which brings me to my giveaway.......

In a blatant and obvious attempt to boost my readership I am going to offer a weekly giveaway.
Woohoo!
Every week one of my lovely followers will be picked at random to receive a special treat.
Simply become a follower of Brown Paper & String, leave a comment, and you are in to win.
This weeks' sweet treat is a luscious hand creme from Anthropologie valued at £22!
Offer closes on Sunday the 4th of July at 2pm.
Good luck!

Aotearoa dreaming...

With plans in the pipeline to move back to New Zealand at the end of next year, my thoughts are constantly wandering to the house we are going to build when we get back.
While Richard is obsessively drawing floor plans, my time is spent ripping pages from magazines and collating a 'home inspiration' file.
Our plot is a 2 minute walk to the beach and boasts gorgeous mature trees and is drenched in afternoon sun.
Here are a few pics which capture the styles I love - nautical, vintage, white, natural, texture.
Enjoy!

Tongue & Groove panelling & an decorative oar, oh yes please!

More Tongue & Groove & touches of seaspray blue, yum.

Anchors & a pile of old book, loving it.

I heart vintage luggage!

Built in shelving, old ladders, books and a station clock - divine!
Thanks White & Wander for these fab pics.

Out & about & around

It's Thursday, and what a week it has been so far.
We are settling into our new routine, with Max going off to nursery Mondays & Wednesdays & me easing into more work.
Thursdays are now officially 'date days' for me & Max. We will go to our fav cafe, Tinto, for cupcakes and then to the park. Just me and my boy.
Here are a few pics from todays wanderings....

A sweet little scooter.

Cupcakes, our Thursday ritual.

I heart a bike with a basket!

London skies.

Posting the bills.

Peekaboo.

Max looooves to slide.

Weeeeeeeee....

A peaceful scene.

Lovely lovely

Hi y'all.
Hope you have enjoyed your day?
We have had a glorious sunny day in Londontown.
I managed to get some time out from work and visit my friend Tracey and her little girl Izzy.
On the way I snapped these pics of a summer rose in bloom.
Enjoy. x
