That Dress

My darling friend Amber, who has done many a face of wedding make up (including mine), commented 'I wonder what time Kate will have to be out of bed to get all that hair and make up done?"

Honey, I don't think her head would have had a chance to hit the pillow!

So we are all waiting, waiting, waiting. Glued to the TV. All we wanna see is The Dress.

My money is on a variation of the now famous blue dress Kate wore for the engagement interview. I'm thinking three quarter sleeves, plunging V neck, fitted through the body and flaring out at the hip. Subtle detail, classic lines. Perfect for our girl Kate.

Oh, and the other big question.......hair up or down?

Yah, you can see I am a bit obsessed!

P.S. Over the moon to be living in London at times like this!

Style Crush - Michelle Williams

I have always loved Michelle Williams.
Even in the Dawson's Creek days I was Team Jen as opposed to Team Joey.
And these photo's found over at Hide & Seek blog make me want to loose 15 kg, chop off my hair and never smile again!
She is the perfect combo of strength & fragility.
Great look no?

P.S. This quote from Michelle proves that we could definitely definitely be best friends, so much in common. Hehehehehe!

"I HAD ALWAYS BEEN KIND OF OBSESSED WITH MAKING A HOME OF MY OWN AND WAS ALWAYS DRAWING ROOMS THAT I WANTED TO LIVE IN, DOWN TO PICTURES ON THE WALL AND THE FACES THAT WOULD BE IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS."

Fun with paper and blu-tack!

Thanks to my style guru, Sibella Court's excellent suggestion, I have embraced decorating with paper and blu-tack.
I must say I am pretty pleased with the results!

Boring bedroom is now.......woody wonderland!

Dead wall space is now......paper art!

Wrapping paper brightens up a boring wall.

Yup, I could get a bit carried away with this idea!

The final look...

Eecckkk! So sorry to bore you with endless pics of my house.

This is the last post about my lounge (reception room for all you Brits ha!!!)
I think I have just about nailed the look I was trying to achieve, finally.
My inspiration - Sibella Courts "etc." book.
Loving that book right now.
Think all I am missing are a few pith helmets, and loads more shells/rocks/feathers/driftwood/dead insects under glass bell jars!

F.Y.I. Richard - while you have been away I have painted a few things, including the bookcase you made. Just letting you know in case you see these pics. (Nervous laugh.)

Random happy, shopping, interiors & a missed package....

Oh how my little one loves ice ceeeeem!

And hanging on this bar until his arms are about to pop out of the sockets!
Good times.

I, on the other hand am VERY partial to bright yellow daffs.....

Buying cushions.....

And zooshing the house.

Sometimes I can't sleep because I am trying to solve a styling dilemma! Yup, that's how boring my life is right now. What to do with the bedroom? It's not quite coming together as I would like.....

I feel like everything I had in the flat just doesn't work in this house because it is such a bigger space. It all looks a bit swamped.

Renee or Holly - I need your help!
Just as well these style queens will both be visiting Chez Cardiff soon.

P.S. I am gutted as I missed the mail today so will have to drag my sorry self to the mail depot to collect my Sakura necklace!
Dumb!

A lovely way to 'help Japan'.....

The brilliant Artemis & Nao, aka Mr & Mrs Junkaholique, have designed and created this gorgeous 'Sakura' necklace available for £65 - £78, online at RUST.
All proceeds will be going to help rebuild the school Nao's Mum works for, which was destroyed by the tsunami.
Such a lovely idea.
Pop over to RUST and have a little look see......

Hanging on to the heat wave....

Looking at the weather forecast I am feeling a little depressed.
How can the temperature drop from 22C to 10C in the space of a day?!
Hanging on to this heat wave as long as I can.......

Small fish, big pond.....

Over the weekend we moved into our new digs.
I know I have been very quiet on the bloggeroo about the move, but I had all my fingers and toes crossed, as I thought it may fall through at the last minute.
We have moved into my sis-in-laws house, as they have headed back to NZ.
We could never normally afford to live in such a palace, but they gave us a seriously good deal, plus we now have a proper office for work, which we can claim against our tax.
I feel like I should apologize and make excuses for this place.
It's, well, HUGE. BEAUTIFUL. BRILLIANT. A proper proper HOUSE!
Eeeeepp, reigning in my excitement!
Here are a few sneaky peaky photos......

P.S. Richard just told me off! I forgot to say my hubby renovated and extended this house 4 years ago.
Love your work honey!

This cookie is bigger than my head!

Sisterly bonding has really stepped up a notch this week as Abby returns to NZ tomorrow (sob!)

Eeep! Abby

Today we decided to go visit the cool kids in East London.

Tubing to Liverpool Street and popping up in the East you feel like you are a long way from SW6!
Straight away I feel inspired and excited. There is candy for my eyes all around.

I had heard a lot of good things about Caravan so we decided to make that our first stop.
I have to say ummmmmm slightly disappointed. Bummer eh? The shop seemed very low on stock and not really styled that well. I really really wanted to buy something, but I actually could not find anything to buy. Dumb!

So we continue our stroll down Redchurch Street, wow wow loving this area. We pop into Albion for a flat white (Yip yip!) and a gigantic cookie, honestly, bigger than my head kinda size.

Abby very excited by massive cookies!

Fresh & lovely breads

Fully satisfied and on a bit of a caffine high, we stumble across Labour & Wait.

Brilliant brilliant! Balls and balls of STRING! Red string, white string, brown string, I heart string A LOT. I end up buying a ball of red and a large ball of natural on a clever holder which has a cutting blade, plus another french market bag.
Happy.

Furniture etc. at Spitalfields

Our meander takes us down Brick Lane. We consider stopping for a curry but the sun has decided to shine today so we opt for a salad from Giraffe and a nice glass of Spy Valley sav.

Home now and I am considering my purchases........string.

All the way to Shoreditch and all I come home with is string. Ha!
